Uses

Celebrex (Celecoxib) belongs to a group of medications called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) primarily used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and reduce pain associated with various medical conditions. Celecoxib works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins - substances in the body that cause inflammation and pain. This results in the reduction of prostaglandin-E2 (prostaglandin E2) levels and an increase in prostaglandin E2 concentrations in the tissues of the body. This helps in alleviating symptoms of arthritis and providing relief from menstrual cramps. Celebrex is also used to treat pain and inflammation related to osteoarthritis of the knee and hip, to reduce swelling in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. This belongs to a class of drugs called COX-2 inhibitors. They are usually prescribed in lower doses for pain and inflammation.
